Welcome to the Grand Traverse District. We are a district made up of 66 churches; starting all the way up north at Indian River then south to Charlevoix, Empire, Manistee and ending at Hart and Mears on the Lake Michigan shoreline. Then inland to Leroy, Cadillac, Kalkaska and Mancelona and every United Methodist church in between, all west of I-75. Our vision is to “Connect, Encourage, and Thrive”.
We would love to have you join us at any one of the Grand Traverse District churches.
***The Main Event with District Conference will be held on Nov. 12th, 2016 at Traverse City Central UMC. Our keynote speaker, Jodi Cataldo, is going to speak about Lay Servant Ministry. Please plan on attending.
Jodi is currently serving as the Director of Laity in Leadership for Discipleship Ministries of The United Methodist Church (GBOD) with responsibility for lay leaders, lay servant ministries, certified lay ministry, and nominations/leadership development committees. Prior to coming to the General Board of Discipleship, Jodi served as the Director of Leadership Development for the Dakotas Conference from July 2010-November 2013 where she was the staff person relating to the Board of Ordained Ministry, Lay Ministries, Congregational Development and Safe and Sacred Spaces.
Jodi considers it a distinct privilege to serve now as the Director of Laity in Leadership for The UMC, encouraging both clergy and laity to reclaim the Wesleyan movement, and to make disciples who transform the world!
